Overview

The JS100 Ethernet to Serial converter is the ideal solution where radio communications is required to RTU/PLC devices that only have an Ethernet interface. Where previously non serial Ethernet devices were excluded from a Serial (RS232) network the JS100 allows them to communicate and become part of the network. With the JS100 Ethernet to Serial converter you now have more opportunities to further extend the reach of your network.

The JS100 Ethernet to Serial converter operates as a standalone device inserted between the Ethernet device or application and the serial RS-232 data port of the radio modem.  Ethernet data is compressed and packetized into RS-232 packets which are then fed into the data radio modem for transmission over the radio network.

Supporting both Point to Point (PTP) and Point to Multipoint (PTMP) applications, the JS100 also takes advantage of the MultiStream™ and ChannelShare™ features of the E and K Series so that a single radio network can support multiple applications using both serial and IP based protocols such as DNP-3, MODBUS, and IEC68570-5.

Easy to install the JS100 requires minimal configuration other than assigning an IP address for accessing the HTML interface which provides diagnostics and connectivity testing.  For more set up information please consult the JS100 Ethernet to Serial converter Quick start guide.

When paired with the E-Series or K-Series data radio, the system designer can accommodate both serial (RS-232) and Ethernet devices within the same system.
